What is a PWA?

A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a web application that offers a user experience similar to native apps. It works offline, loads quickly, and can be installed on your device like an app. The Connect and Hike PWA gives you access to all the hiking tools and information you need, even when you’re out of range or without internet!

Why does this matter?

When you’re in the backcountry, cell service and internet connection can be unreliable or nonexistent. The Connect and Hike PWA works offline after it’s installed, ensuring you can access trail maps, hike details, and safety tips anywhere, anytime. Be prepared and safe on your adventures!

On Desktop (Chrome or Edge)

Follow these instructions to install the app on your desktop:

Open Chrome or Edge and visit our website.
Look for the install icon in the address bar, usually near the bookmark star icon.
If you don’t see the icon, open the options menu (three dots in the upper-right corner).
Click “Install” or “Add to Desktop”.

On Mobile (Android – Chrome)

If you’re on Android, here’s how you can install the app:

Open Chrome on your Android device and go to our website.
Tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the browser.
Select “Add to Home screen” from the dropdown menu.
Confirm the installation by tapping “Add”.

On Mobile (iOS – Safari)

For iOS users (iPhone and iPad), follow these steps to install the app:

Open Safari and go to our website.
Tap the share button at the bottom of the screen (the box with an arrow pointing upwards).
Scroll down in the share menu and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
Tap “Add” in the top-right corner of the screen to confirm.
